Our greatest sympathies
webassets/k4f4mgdoublemug.jpg

Our condolenses go out to Okaloosa County Sheriff's Deputy Anthony Forgione. He was shot and killed Tuesday morning as he tried to apprehend a man who escaped from the hospital. R-6 ran a call earlier that day @ 205 Shell on the man who later shot the Deputy.

" The dude was really whacked out" said one of R-6 crew members of the shooter. This is a terrible situation and our prayers go out to the Deputy's family.

Save Clearwaterfire.org
Florida’s Professional Firefighters Announce Boycott of the City of Clearwater

The Florida Professional Firefighters today is urging its 26,000 members, along with the 280,000 professional fire fighters across the nation and Canada, to
boycott the City of Clearwater for their unethical and illegal treatment of its fire fighters.

The boycott stems from several years of issues ranging from illegal demotions and firings, to sexual harassment of female firefighters by Clearwater city manager William Horne and Clearwater Fire Chief Jamie Geer.

The taxpayers of Clearwater have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars funding a personal war by Horne and Geer against the Clearwater Fire Fighters Association (CFFA).  This personal war has led to defeat in every legal battle Clearwater has entered in to.

In addition to the money already spent, Clearwater taxpayers have yet to pay for the 26 pending grievances and 1 sexual discrimination case that has yet to be resolved.  In tough financial times, the potential to exceed $1 Million in costs is a reality, not a dream.

In response to the way the City of Clearwater has decided to treat its fire fighters, all firefighters coming to Florida are being advised to avoid the Clearwater area as a vacation destination.   All fire fighters living in the area are asked to spend their money in neighboring cities and not Clearwater.  This boycott will last as long as Clearwater Firefighters are treated as second-class citizens.

For more information on the boycott, as well as the illegal treatment of Clearwater’s firefighters, contact:

- John Lee, President of the Clearwater Firefighters Association at (727) 804-5064
- David Hogan, Secretary/Treasurer of the Clearwater Firefighters Assn. (727) 647-5659

A message from the President, Shannon R. Stone
Shannon's term as president ends this June.

Thanks to all the members for the continued support I received during my two terms as president of Local 2601. I feel we have made great progress during that time and it could not have been accomplished without the support of each member and the E-Board. It has been an honor to serve the men and women of IAFF Local 2601.

ELECTIONS for a new President will be held in JUNE 2008. Anyone interested should contact an E-Board member ASAP.

ON THE JOB!

"Sticker club"

Please remove all IAFF markings from your vehicle when selling, trading-in, etc. The IAFF logo is universally known and respected and identifies both them and their family members as part of an elite profession and connected to Organized Labor.

IAFF decals and emblems should not be given or sold to any individuals or non-family members who are not IAFF members. What you perceive to be a friendly gesture may be viewed by a police officer as illegal. Police in some states have interpreted the displaying of an IAFF or fire department logo by individuals who are not firefighters or the immediate family member of a firefighter as impersonating a firefighter, which is illegal in most states.

DO THE RIGHT THING.  REMOVE IAFF DECALS WHEN DISPOSING OF A MOTOR VEHICLE IN ANY WAY.

Have something to say? Suggestions? We want your input!
Let us know by filling out the box below & we'll get back to ya!
