"Tonight is a very sad night for the city of Boston," Mayor Thomas Menino said. "Two of our bravest have lost their lives in a fire in West Roxbury. Our prayers and offers of help are extended to the families of those two firefighters and the other firefighters who were injured in the line of duty. This is a dangerous job, and these firefighters answered the call."

CV-22 Osprey Training 12:00 pm cdt

C/fire5.jpg

The morning of Friday August 10th, a severe storm ripped through the area and Truck 6 was dispatched to a smoke investigation call around 2:30am. Truck 6 crew found smoke comming from the ridge vent of a 2 story house. Upon further investigation, the crew found a fire in the attic above the second story. Truck 6's crew was able to contain the fire. The celing in one of the bedrooms was pulled. Engine 7 also assisted with the overhaul.  This is a perfect example of why you should always pack out and be ready to go on all calls, this smoke investigation call turned out to be the real deal and Truck 6's was on the ball. Great Job Truck 6 crew.

"Sticker club"

Please remove all IAFF markings from your vehicle when selling, trading-in, etc. The IAFF logo is universally known and respected and identifies both them and their family members as part of an elite profession and connected to Organized Labor.

IAFF decals and emblems should not be given or sold to any individuals or non-family members who are not IAFF members. What you perceive to be a friendly gesture may be viewed by a police officer as illegal. Police in some states have interpreted the displaying of an IAFF or fire department logo by individuals who are not firefighters or the immediate family member of a firefighter as impersonating a firefighter, which is illegal in most states.

DO THE RIGHT THING.  REMOVE IAFF DECALS WHEN DISPOSING OF A MOTOR VEHICLE IN ANY WAY.
